There aren't any steel framed 416's.

The frame doesn't matter you can see A or B models with either frame.

The B model has better bass response in my experience at a slight decrease in sensitivity.

    YMMV

I know what he means. It looks kinda like a steel frame until you get a little closer.
Nothing like a great big pair of speakers to make your day.

    Re: 416 Question

    OK, no steel frames.
Still, I was curious about the differences. Is one type better than the other?

I have a pair of both types and was wondering which to use in the new cabinets I am contemplating building.
    Thanks,
    Marvin

    Re: 416 Question

All other things being equal, (and in many cases they are), the big frames represent an improvement, and could therefore be deemed better. It's nothing you'll hear though, just the option to front mount and better gaskets.

    Re: 416 Question

There is not much difference between the A & B models they are both Alnico the C model is ferrite.Which I think does sound a little different.

But how do you plan to mount them if rear mount go with the A if front mount then B, that has already been noted.

What kind of cabinet are you planning on using ?
